Private Sessions

Private sessions can be very helpful for those new to yoga who want individualized instruction on the basics of classical yoga postures (asana), breathwork (pranayama) and meditation.  Many new yoga students find private sessions to be an excellent segue into group classes.  In a safe, nonjudging environment you will receive thoughtful guidance based on an initial assessment of your functional movement and your personal needs.   Yoga is a mind-body modality that can address body function/dysfunction, posture and breath as well as life-style issues that can facilitate ease (or contribute to dis-ease).

Private sessions can also be helpful if you are already practicing yoga but may want more strategic help recovering from injuries,  managing chronic pain, dealing with age-related changes and especially when dealing with life stressors or past trauma.

As a seasoned therapist, Carolyn brings over 30 years experience as a mental health therapist, dance-movement therapist and counselor to her yoga practice.  She understands the relational components of any therapy -- yoga or otherwise and recognizes that we benefit most from learning in a respectful and empathetic environment.   She offers each student/practitioner an opportunity to develop his/her own yoga practice at the pace and intensity that is supported by this trusting relationship.

It is helpful to schedule a minimum of three sessions -- the first, primarily an opportunity for assessment, in order to receive the most benefit.  You will be given homework suggestions based on the work in the session to practice between appointments.

Pricing:  $65.00 an hour for a single session; package of three sessions $175.00.

Group Classes

Carolyn's classes are gentle and playful and offer students opportunities to slow down, pay attention and discover - from the inside out - functional movement and ease in body and mind.  Most classes are small and allow for individualized instruction.  We practice foundational yoga postures in each class to prepare body and mind for the more complex asana.  The focus is on slowing down enough to be able to identify one's own strengths, compensatory and habitual movements and imbalances and then to offer opportunities to develop the skills, strength and awareness to move with ease, not only in yoga classes, but in our lives.

Carolyn incorporates yoga philosophy, breathwork (pranayama), chanting (mantra) and meditation in classes and private sessions.

Class prices vary.  Drop-in's as well as class packages are available.
