Carolyn Johnson, MA,BC-DMT,RYT-200, NCC has 40 years experience as a mind-body therapist and yoga practitioner. She is a certified RYT-200 yoga teacher and a board-certified Dance-Movement Therapist. For the last 26 years Carolyn has worked as a Group Therapist on an adult psychiatric unit incorporating yoga and movement into groups and individual sessions. She has practiced yoga for decades and has studied therapeutic yoga with Maureen Maclise, Susie Hately, Neal Pearson, Sybil Nance, Rose Kress, Amy Weintraub, and has participated in numerous workshops related to chronic pain, trauma and mindfulness.
As an aging yogi, therapist and hiker, she understands the importance of moving the body with mindfulness and respect for its changing nature over time. Throughout her life she has discovered that “getting on the mat” helps to balance body and mind. During challenging times, yoga offers the possibility of connectedness -- to self, to others, to our environment. She is dedicated to helping her students and clients discover the joys and benefits of integrating breath, movement and intention into their yoga practice and their lives.
